Has everyone seen this? Parking fees increasing as per January 2015. Spotlight on parking fees The University of Queensland is considering building a new 500-space car-park to relieve parking pressure at the St Lucia campus. The new complex would be built on oval four and the baseball diamond and would include two rooftop synthetic playing fields. It is expected it would take about two years to complete. The car-park would help cater for increasing demand for parking spaces, and the playing fields would provide flood-proof multi-sport facilities. The car-park component of the complex will be funded by increases to UQ parking fees in January 2015 and January 2016. This would be the first increase in parking charges at UQ since 2010. UQ’s average parking rates would continue to compare favourably with those charged by QUT and Griffith, and remain significantly lower than Brisbane commercial provider rates. The increase would typically see parking fees increase by around $1 per day or $1 per hour, depending on the zone and parking type (of which there are multiple). The changes would come into effect on Thursday 1 January 2015, with a similar increase from Friday 1 January 2016.
