Haskell’s campus is unusually active for this time of year, but - TopicsExpress

Haskell’s campus is unusually active for this time of year, but this time it’s not the students nor the staff and faculty buzzing around. A youth group from St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, is on campus this week volunteering their time to help spruce things up around campus. They are doing a variety of work, including painting, cleaning out the dorms, and doing some landscaping in various areas. The group was originally scheduled to be in Tahlequah this week, but found out they had been double-booked and another group was already there. A leader in the group had previously attended the University of Kansas and knew about Haskell, so they came here instead. Some of the members have worked in Indian Country before, having previously volunteered on the Pine Ridge Reservation. Luckily, the volunteers get to have a little fun while they are here. This afternoon they are touring KU’s campus, attending one of KU’s theater performances, and will be trying out some of the local cuisine, such as Wheat State Pizza. The team said they have had a great time here in Kansas, but are excited to get back home to Colorado after this week is over. They focused on the areas around the bus stop, the gazebo, near the library, in and around dorms, and in many other places around campus. If anyone gets the chance, stop by and take a look around campus at all the work they have done! --- In the following album, there are some pictures of the volunteers and will be updated with some photos of the work they have done very soon.
