Hat Tip to the nice Wal-Mart girl who opened her line for me. I was standing in the 20 items or less line and two carts were in front of me with three people in the same group. As they quickly tried to get their items out of the first cart in order to obfuscate their more like 156 items, I just stood there watching. The younger girl was embarrassed in front of me and you could tell was uncomfortable. The Ma Kettle leading the charge tried to not look in my direction but was hurrying quickly to try to smush all those items onto the small counter... Still I stood there and watched her...I am unsure if she felt my very friendly gaze on the back of her head or not. I see another 20 Items or Less line immediately to the right with no one in it and the light off, save for the check out girl and another girl chit-chatting. Unknowing if she was on break or not, I walked over there [leaving my cart in 1st line] and whispered, Excuse me, I am so sorry. Is there any way possible at all you could check me out since it is clear and evident the people in front of me have closer to 100 items? No problem, she said. The floor is probably nearly dried. (Someone had spilled something.) I thought that was very nice and I was out of there in less than 3 minutes. [ Walmart Hartsville ]
