“Have I Not Sent Thee?” Jdg 6:14 And the LORD looked upon - TopicsExpress

“Have I Not Sent Thee?” Jdg 6:14 And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee? In reading over this account of Gideon, there is a question that reveals the heart of a Christian. When God showed Gideon that He would be with him through the battle against the oppressor, the Midianites, it would be up to Gideon to obey or He would need to find another. This question is what we face daily in our lives when God says in Acts 1:8, “But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” We are to go and carry the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. As we trust the Lord to do what He can only do, we enjoy the fruits of the labor that He bestows upon His church. It is our hands, feet and mouth that have been dedicated to Him to be go and speak this glorious gospel. There will be apprehension as to what we will encounter along the way but God said in Matthew 28:20, “And lo, I am with thee!” As the Holy Ghost leads a willing, yielded child of God, the work is accomplished for His glory and honor. Gideon did not think that he could carry out such a task but God reassured him of His presence. Every Christian is sent out by God and then empowered by the Holy Ghost to say to the sinner what needs to be spoken. It is so encouraging to watch God use the obedient Christian and the fruit that comes into the local church because these were just willing to trust their Lord. “God does not call the qualified; He qualifies those willing to answer His call.” Has not God sent us to some lonely, lost, unloved soul that needs His Son? Gideon will see what joy is coming to his life by being obedient to God’s call.
