Have a look at this old news article. Way back in 2007 the Nationals helped Metgasco secure $1 million to drill a gas well in casino that eventually exploded hundreds of meters of drilling rod high into the air along with a huge fireball which almost killed many workers who had to run for their very lives. It was found to be leaking the entire time. Back then they were selling the project to the local community by saying it would mean cheap gas for the locals: Access to pipeline gas and reliable electricity supply (would mean) significant cost savings for businesses and local residents. Eight years later there is no power plant, and it was later clarified they never had any intention of selling the gas locally and they also hid the fact that export would ensure the cost of the gas tripled or even quadrupled. Chris Gulaptis, National MP for the Clarence can be seen in the photo along with former national leader and deputy PM Mark Vaile who is also the independent chairman and a non-executive director of Whitehaven Coal Limited. Interesting hey? I don;t know anything about Peter Power (cool name), maybe you do Shell Cullen ?
