Have not stopped thinking, even in my mildly inconvenienced state, of a woman I met this weekend - an amazing recipient of a lung transplant who inspired me so. She explained she had to wear the bright purple face mask she wore for a year as well as take 24 medications daily to avoid rejection with no complaint. Finally she revealed that she received her gift of life from a 42 year old African-American man who lost his life in a motorcycle accident and had blessed a number of individuals with various donations. She marveled at the irony of a human gift given to her from a person most would deem so different when in fact the donation fused with her and gave her life, proving to her most unconditionally that people are so much alike. I felt blessed to meet this wonderful person and to haven been one person that received this amazing confirmation of what Ive always believed to my soul - that we are truly all one, period.
