Have requested Hon’ble Prime Minister for modification of the Environmentally Sensitive Areas on the basis of a physical verification, with a view to identify the actual habitation and agricultural areas and delete from ESA. Also, recommendations of High Level Working Group to exclude plantation, agricultural settlements and human settlements having population density higher than 100 persons per square kilometer from ESA may be accepted. Revenue land occupied by settlers prior to 01/01/1997 may be excluded from ESA. The proposal for introducing the ESA as buffer zone may also be dropped.
