Have sent my final pension papers in, written my formal letter of retirement, and have written a letter to my peers to say good bye! It is with a bit of sadness that I leave my career behind. I have truly loved being a labor&delivery nurse for the past 35 years. I have met many wonderful people who have allowed me to be a part of the most blessed event in their lives. Witnessing the miracle of birth has been an honor and a privilege. I am so blessed to have been a part of so many joyous births. It was not until Azaiah died that I truly realized how important it is to have a caring nurse at your side. I hope that in some small way that my presence was comforting to all of the families that I have taken care of who have suffered the sorrow of losing their baby. Sometimes when I think that I will never start another IV(and I am really good at it) or scrub for another c-s or care for a laboring momma and daddy, it makes me kinda sad. BUT then I think of ALL those DeGarmo kids! Addie saying when I leave "you gonna miss me nan" or Keila asking the minute that I walk in the door how long I am staying and when am I coming back so we can have a sleepover! Or Jada Blue and Ellie wanting to go shopping and to lunch so we can have some "girl time" Or Noah Kaydan wanting to know when I am coming down because he wants to plan a family movie night and he needs me to take him to get snacks, go to redbox, and as he puts it "oh yeah Nan and pay for everything" So thanks Medina Hospital for 35 wonderful years of a Great Career but my future will be so blessed because for the FIRST time in my life my family will have trumped my job!!!!!
