Have worked with several of these people. Please help us to help them. Update from U.P. President Pascual on UP Tacloban: Further to my earlier email, let me share with you some news bits regarding Tacloban, UPV Tacloban College, and UPM School of Health Sciences Palo based on text messages that I received or were forwarded to me today. Please feel free to share this and my earlier email with others. From Student Regent Krista Melgarejo re UP SHS Palo: Nakakausap ko na po ang isang SC member from Palo. She told me wasak na wasak ang campus nila. Walang pagkain at tubig doon. Wala na rin daw bahay ang mga prof nila. Still no contact sa Tacloban. From UP Visayas Information Officer re UPVTC: Facebook sketchy accounts of students say that students staying at dormitory evacuated to the library bldg during storm surge. The fence destroyed but oblation & multi-purpose bldg behind it still remains . . .so far yan pa kayang nakuha mga balita. From former Dean Marge dela Cruz: Gud am. Tacloban dvastated. UPVTC greatly damaged as surge rose to 2nd floor. Signal unstable. Death toll high. Terrible, terible. Nothing like this before. From Dean Cular of UPVTC to UPV Chancellor: We need approx 1 billion to repair the damages caused by super typhoon Yolanda. I walked 10 km to get a signal to send you this message we can only access signal in Tacloban City Hall. We will resume our office on Monday but classes will resume by January due to the damages caused. From Staff Regent Rara Ramirez: Some of our faculty members are in the evacuation center in Tacloban. Dean Cular is curremtly staying in her 4X4 truck. This evening (Nov. 12) the UP System dispatched 1,000 packs of relief goods along with boxes of clothes and other stuff collected by the UP Diliman Student Council. These items will be brought to Tacloban tomorrow morning via a C130 flight.
