Have written and e-mailed Helm Housing regarding a number of issues of concern within White Rise, White Glen and Teeling. ________________________________ a chara, Im contacting you concerning the state of many homes in White Rise, White Glen and Teeling. All of these streets are in the Lagmore development. Following a recent canvass and complaints from a number of residents who are unhappy with the service they have received from Helm I must inquire about a number of issue. Firstly is the case of numerous complaints regarding severe dampness and mould. This is often dismissed as condensation but recent inspections in the area have proved it to be much more severe. In several cases this has had a negative impact on the health of residents, evident by doctors and GPs professional opinions. Can I ask what Helm are doing to reslove this issue once and for all, as it has been ongoing for several years now. There have also been a number of complaints about poor insulation in these homes. Inspections of a number of properties have shown the cavity wall insulation to be inadequate. This again contributes to the dampness and mould and of course has a negative impact on health, particularly with the elderly and vulnerable. It is also a contributing factor to fuel poverty. Finally there seems to be a severe backlog of maintenance works with a number of residents complaining that they have been waiting, in some cases, for months for repairs to be carried out. These issues are deeply concerning and I ask that you get back to me as early as possible regarding this.
