Have you ever been so still inside you can hear your own heart - TopicsExpress

Have you ever been so still inside you can hear your own heart beat? That’s what it feels like the moment a dog in danger is finally safely in your arms. Nothing else matters when you look into those eyes. Nothing but making them well. Helping them learn to accept the love you hope they can feel from that first moment of your touch. Our group has been fortunate (or should that be unfortunate that there is even the need) to have been involved in several puppy mill, hoarding and back yard breeder situations. They can be a long drawn out process or quick and to the point. Sometimes there is a deadline. It’s a scramble to round up supplies, crates and have fosters ready and waiting. While others will give time to make arrangements for multiple incoming dogs. There isn’t a day that goes by that the faces of all these kids does not haunt me. The neglect, the uncaring of mankind and the greed. The needless suffering for dollars. It is not the dogs that get that ride in Old Yeller in my dreams at night. I know they are safe and will never be mistreated or neglected again. It is the ones we have to leave behind. We are fighting a war we can never win. As long as there is dollars to be made it will never change. Animals treated like a commodity instead of like the feeling beings they are. So many plead, beg, scream and yell for others to do something. Anything to help this one or that one get to a safe place. 800 dogs died in shelters today nationwide. Tomorrow 800 more will die. Are you doing more than hoping someone will save them? Are you sharing the rural shelter animals? Are you fostering? Have you donated so others CAN help if you can’t? Don’t watch and hope someone can help them. Do something! Be part of the solution. If not you are part of the problem. This summer has been a hard one. So many animals left behind when their families had to move on top of all those dumped in shelters. The costs of rentals are sky high so many cannot afford the pet deposit on top of everything else. My Team is tired, we are worn down. We are hurting inside for all those lost we could not help and for the ones we had no choice but to leave behind. Yet we keep going. Every single day, not just when it is convenient. Not just when it fits into busy schedules. Every day! Why? Because tomorrow another 800 will die in shelters. Because tomorrow there will be more who have to move without their family pet. Because the laws have not changed and puppy mill dogs will need somewhere to go to learn what human kindness is. Because tomorrow we will not save the world but we will make a difference. Tomorrow what will you do? Donate today to help us make a difference tomorrow.
