Have you ever been to a Star Party? Were hoping youll join us for ours beginning at 8:00pm on Sept 13th (cloud date: Sept 14th). Just FYI, here are a few tips for first-time attendees on Star Party Etiquette: To enhance viewing conditions for everyone, leave bright, white lights home; they ruin your night vision, as well as the night vision of those around you. Bring a red-light flashlight, a flashlight with a red lens, or one with a red piece of plastic covering the bulb.* Even with red lenses, use your light sparingly; on a clear night, your eyes will adjust quickly to the dark conditions. Follow instructions of those staffing the scopes you are looking through to avoid damaging any expensive, hand-crafted equipment. Ask lots of questions! The amateur astronomers who bring their telescopes to Saint-Gaudens National Historic site for this event every year love the night sky and are passionate about sharing their knowledge of it with others! *The park will have a limited number of red glow sticks available for those without a red flashlight.
