Have you ever done something you were ashamed of? No matter how - TopicsExpress

Have you ever done something you were ashamed of? No matter how much time passes or how much God has changed you, forgiven you and others forgave you, it still makes you cringe to think about or have brought up to you. We fail everyday and God deals with us on these things but the one thing God doesnt do is constantly remind us of what has already been put under the blood. He doesnt say Im going to forgive this but I wont forget it and that is the person you will always be seen as by me. He says you are a new creation through Him. If you struggle with guilt and shame from past failures consider this. Is it God, yourself or others holding you in this place and why? Who is it exactly that thinks what all He did and suffered on the cross to free you from that sin to bare wasnt enough to cover it? Every time we go back to that place or let someone else try to take us back to that place and person we once were that is exactly what we are saying. He didnt say lay down but live in the guilt and shame of it, begging forgiveness and trying to make amends for it, for the rest of your life always feeling like no matter how much you do it is never enough. He said what He did was enough and you are free indeed forever more. He didnt tell the woman at the well to depart in shame and go tell everyone how sorry she was. She departed in new hope, life and peace to tell others the good news of what He did for her..not what she had done before. When others wanted to stone her because they didnt like that she thought she was forgiven He said let him who is sinless cast the first stone. They didnt like it but they shut up and walked away did they not! I like that! You gotta love how Jesus told it like it was! Amen! He changed Sauls name to Paul to make this point as well. People tried to remind him of who had once been but he didnt let them make him live there, beg forgiveness and explain himself continuously. He simply pointed to Jesus and said He changed me and can do the same for you if youll let Him. Paul went on to be a great Christian leader and wrote much of the most important letters to the church ever written after He was forgiven and changed. What if he had listened to those who deemed him not worthy of giving ear to? He couldnt have become who God purposed him to be as long as he remained in the person he once was. Being sorry is one thing and thats called repentance and acknowledgement, turning from it to do it no more and break its power (draw) over you is yet another due to a changed perception of the deed but forgiveness is a whole other thing. Its a total release from its after effects as well as the deed itself. Its a receiving of that release and embracing of the belief that you are indeed that new person He says you are. He says the forgiven is forgotten and no more. Isnt it time you lived there as well and let others also. This is the reason He did it. So you could live a life free of condemnation and in the abundance He meant you to have. Dont give Him less than what He is by accepting less than He came to give.
