Have you ever heard an evangelist or pastor tell an unsaved person: God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life. Is this the truth or is it false? In the video below, Ray Comfort examines this question along with the only true reason a person can come to Christ, as well as the fact that an unsaved person has absolutely no interest or desire in righteousness. This video was extremely encouraging to me. As a person who was a false convert for most of his life (yes, I’ve been down to the alter at least 4 times committing my life to Christ praying some sinners prayer all to no avail) and tries to be transparent, let me be the first to witness to the truth of this. Before salvation; I too had no interest in righteousness. I loved my sin. I wanted to enjoy my sin; I just didn’t want to pay the penalty for it. I even laughed at my sin whether personally or in the entertainment I watched. I listened to music that mocked the truth of Christ. And most importantly, looking back: I can honestly say now that I completely hated the true God and everything He was and stood for. (John 14:6) There is a weightiness of sin that goes deeper than the understanding, and when the weight has played it’s part, the only thing the impenitent sinner can cry is “God be merciful to me the sinner”!
