Have you ever noticed how your indoor plant on the window seal seems to move toward the window? Trees and plants have hormones called auxins that get released into the parts of the plant that receive the most light this in turn encourages growth at these points, this is called phototropism. If you have a tree on the side of your house growing at an angle don’t try to correct it with guying wires/cables or stakes. Doing so will prevent the tree from receiving it’s natural sway from the wind and gravity and it won’t produce the reaction roots and wood needed to hold itself up and it’ll forever become dependent on this cable or stakes. And, if you ever do remove the cable it’ll fall over. Corrective pruning is the best remedy.
