Have you heard of Nnyenda Hill in Kigulu county of Busoga? This place, which is being dissecrated by unscrupulous people, has a lot of significance to the Basoga And most especially to the royal clan, Baise Igaga Clan. IT IS AT THIS PLACE THAT THIS ROYAL CLAN ESTABLISHED A kingdom in Busoga Long ago, as early as 1232and their palace was at Nnyenda. Baise Igaga are descendants of Prince Byaruhanga Ndahura 1, who I have just discovered was not actually Omukama of Bunyoro as earlier believed but was dispatched by the then Omukama Wamara of the Chwezi dynasty to Busoga which was part of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom. But it was Ndahura who named the area Busoga because of the predominance of castor oil plant called kisogasoga in Runyoro. At that time Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom extended up to Karamgwe in Northern Tanzania and Waga in DRC. The kingdom was then known as Busambira, which was then annexed to Kigulu due to the conflicts that caused a dilemma of allegiance by their ancestor Walinda Kisambira between Buganda and Bunyoro. Apparently it was at Nnyenda that the first agreement between Bazungu and a kingdom was executed between the King of Busambira, the Isebantu, I 1987. Many of the colonial governors go to Nnyenda for advice, not Bugembe and not to a Kyabazinga. There is a lot of story to tell and learn about the heritage of the people of Busoga and it is at Nnyenda where kingshi idea all started and Kyabazingaship was not part of it until 1936.
