Have you visited Mostar yet? Dubrovnik is a great place to use as a central base to tour the area, with Montenegro to the south, with its ancient walled cities of Kotor and Budva, Adriatic Islands to the North and West, and to the east, Bosnia-Herzegovina and historic, almost Turkish Mostar. When you come to Dubrovnik, come with us on our tour to Mostar where east meets west. On the way there we’ll enjoy views of the beautiful azure blue Adriatic coast and stop at the old, very Turkish-looking town of Pocitelj with its mosque and old houses. We love Mostar with its famous 16th century (restored) ottoman bridge and Joan loves the Bazar of course. It’s a very short walk down into the old town, the bridge, and the Old Bazar – Kujundziluk. The Bazar is located in the car-free area of Muslim Mostar where many artisans sell traditional handicrafts from little shops by the side of the street – copper items, carpets, clothes, scarves and jewelry. It’s also the oldest – and luckily most intact – part of town. Over the bridge there are some great photo opportunities, restaurants, some nice stalls and the mosque. Joan ended up buying many of her Christmas presents last year at the bazar.
