Havent done a historic day in a while. But I feel I really have to do this one. On May 25th 1977, a new movie hits theaters called....... Star Wars. Directed by George Lucas, it was a smash hit in theaters, selling Billions of dollars in movie tickets, toys, and other merchandise. In 1980 a sequel called The Empire Strikes Back will release, and then in 1983 the next sequel Return of the Jedi. In 1999 the prequel series came with Episode I The Phantom Menace, in 2002, II Attack of the Clones, and in 2005, III Revenge of the Sith. This saga and movie franchise is now now of the most valuable in history. After the Disney buyout of Lucasfilm and Lucasarts including the Star Wars franchise, Disney announced its intentions to continue the story with episodes VII VIII and IX. The new movies are under the direction of J.J Abrams, who was known for directing Star Trek Into Darkness. I think I speak for many Star Wars fans when I say I am skeptical about the new ownership and new movies. But I hope they turn out nicely. And thats this day in history.
