Havent seen very many posts in here lately so lets try and jump start the band wagon.. Crock Pot Whole Chicken First take the whole chicken ($5) that you got at the store and clean it. Run some water over it all and yank out any giblets and such still inside. Once rinsed off pat it dry with paper towels to make sure its mostly dry. Then what i like to do is make a homemade seasoning rub consisting of your choice of herbs and seasoning. Once you have finished making your rub, then go to town smearing that stuff all over the chicken Mmmmm. Once done I usually like to put chopped fresh onions($1) in the bottom of the cooker. If you going for more of a pennsyltuckey go ahead and toss in everything you need for a stew/dinner meal. Some do potatoes or broccoli. I use them later in a different way. But yeah you can toss in fixings first before the chicken if you want. All i do is a little bit of chopped onions with about a cup of water at the bottom. Careful how much water u use because technically you dont need any at all because the chicken creates it own juices.. a lot lol. But i like to put in an extra cup of water or so that way when i drain I can use the juices for other meals left over. At this point you should just have some water and onion in the crock pot. Now you can drop in the main piece (CHICKEN!) Cover the slow cooker and let that bad boy go for about 8 hours on low. Then the hardest part about this whole process is to just wait, wait, wait. lol Once the chicken is fully cooked the whole way through (easier if you have one of the temperature things u can just poke into the chicken then pops out to tell you it done) you then drain. When i drain i use the lid of the crock pot to keep everything in and gently move it around to let the fluids drain. You can either discard them or like i do keep it in a dish in the microwave for future meals. After juices have been removed keep the chicken in the pot.You can eat it like this if you wish but i always like a little something extra. So at this point i mix together 1 can of cream of potato and 1 can of cream of mushroom, with a little bit of water to thin it out. Then take the mixture and pour all over the chicken in the pot until you cant see it anymore. I also like to sprinkle some shredded cheese of your choosing on top as well. Recover the dish and cook on high for another hour untill the soup and cheese is caramelized onto the chicken,,, aaaand There yah go A great meal that should last a couple days for just under 10 bux!!
