Having a service dog can be very rewarding, but its also a lot of work. You have to be willing to put your dogs needs above your own. Sometimes that means leaving someplace early if your service dog is too tired or overwhelmed. Sometimes that means carrying out a backpack solely filled with things your dog will need (dog food, water bowl, treats, pop up kennel, cooling coat, etc.) Sometimes that means running around trying to find a potty spot. Sometimes that means opting out of an activity that could be harmful to your dog. I love Levi, and I wouldnt want to be without him. He takes care of me all day everyday, but I have to know when I need to take care of him back. I dont think the people that see us walking around realizes how much thought and work goes into our relationship. Its not simple, but for us its worth it.
