Having been there before, I can say without a doubt, that losing a family member to brain death is absolutely one of the worst experiences you could ever go through. I cant imagine this familys hurt as he is so, so young. He will live on through the amazing gift of organ donation, though, and touch many hurting and needing families in the process. Keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers...they not only need it now, they will need it for years and years to come.
