Having gone through the jury selection process for a major tort - TopicsExpress

Having gone through the jury selection process for a major tort case, I am confirmed in my belief that the legal system is in dire need of an overhaul that involves limits on monetary reward for pain and suffering, as well as much stricter qualifications for deciding which types of cases get into the system. The case I was kept from is handled in other industrialised countries by a government agency and deals with all the victims while those victims are still alive; not just the those who file law suits. Medical bills and burial costs are compensated by the industries involved as well as the nation as a whole. What I was almost a part of was nothing less than a shameful circus of legal profession greed that would not have come close to serving justice for either the plaintiff or the defendents, and certainly wouldnt have addressed the larger problem of compensation for asbestos induced cancer victims and their families. Legal system needs change, period.
