Having signed off competetive Hockey in 1988 while in tne Army, Thereafter I used to pick up Hockey stick occasionally from 2009 onwards while guiding the students in Amity University UP, NOIDA. On 24 Aug 2014, when i came to know that the inaugral exhibition match for Sangathan 2014 (Inter Institutional Sports Championship for Amity group of Institutions) was to be a hockey match, I got the brain wave of playing the match and started getting ready after a green signal from our worthy VC, Dr Balvinder Shukla notwithstanding the fact that I am to complete 67 yrs on coming 05 jan. 28 Aug 2014 was a red letter day for me. I was there lined up with Amity School of Engineering & Technology (last years gold medalists) playing against Sports School (ASPESS) team for the inaugral exhibition match. Our Honble Chancellor, Shri Atul Chauhan while being introduced with the teams was utterly surprised to hear from me that I was there to play the match . He immediately got it announced on the mike. While I played with reasonable amount of skill for 20 min only, there were a number of happy & memorable moments for me during and after the fixture. I am grateful to God almighty, Amity University UP and its enviable students for keeping my love for our ailing national game alive. Here are 3 photographs of the memorable event.
