Having trouble getting through to the city of Lewiston today? Theres a good reason why - the phones are out, as this Lewiston press release says. LEWISTON - Deputy City Administrator Phil Nadeau is reporting that the entire city phone system experienced a parts failure which has shut down the entire city phone system and all city departments. The public is urged to call 911 if they have a need for immediate police, fire or public works services. All critical staff have cell phones and Nadeau does not expect that there will be any issues in dealing with any city emergencies during the phone repair. Nadeau reported that he was uncertain as to the specific time of the failure but suspected that it had occurred sometime early Saturday morning. City technicians have been in touch with the system vendors and it has not yet been confirmed when the parts are repairs will be completed. Nadeau stated that when the system is up and operating, the city will issue a notice through its emergency alert web page feature and will also issue a press release.
