Hayden linked to 2014 Pata Honda World Superbike ride Sacked Ducati MotoGP star Nicky Hayden has been linked with a switch to the Pata Honda World Superbike team with funding coming directly from Honda America. The 2006 MotoGP World Champion was told at the Sachsenring round that his contract to ride the Desmosedici would not be renewed and his seat has been taken by Cal Crutchlow in a two-year deal announced this morning. Hayden has a long association with Honda, winning his AMA Superbike title with the manufacturer before moving into MotoGP and taking the 2006 crown by just five points from Valentino Rossi with Loris Capirossi in third. The American said at Laguna Seca he had been contacted by a couple of teams from the World Superbike paddock with the smart money at that point going on BMW but they have since pulled out of the series.
