Hazel Kendrick 17 November 19:25 Livingstone hospital is terrible the doctors are doing their best to save peoples lives, but the after care causes a lot of patients to get infections from neglect. The nurses dont care if the patients drips are finished, as far as the nurses are concerned, the patient can wait even if the blood is running back into the drip. The one patient was asking for a bed pan, the nurses ignored her, with the result she wet her bed and had to stay like that unlike the night staff took over and were ready to change bedding. This type of thing can cause patients to get even worse sick than what they really are. Is it not dangerous to leave a drip unattended, but do they care. Then when some of the patient need wound cleanning, they have to wait the while the nurses decided it is time to change wounds. Then what about them leaving the windows open until what time, the patient complain they are getting cold, but no, nurses dont care they do not even give the patients extra blankets to keep warm. The other problem is when they are given food the lady who brings the food just leaves them on the tray regardless if the patient can reach the tray or not, and if they cannot reach the food the lady will come around and take it away again. With the result how many patients go without food. When the patients complain they get told to wait or keep quiet as they are busy. When you go and visit and ask the nurses in a polite manner to help, they look at you and say we are busy, with the result th patients then only gets attended to late at night, as if they are doing it on purposes. There are so many things happening there it is unbelieveable. When you phone the Superior staff to complain they do nothing about it. The dirty laundry is something left in the passages, bedding only gets changed once a week regardless if they have blood mess on them. Yet what does one do when you need to go there. Why do they not let patients go to provincial or hospitals closer to the patients. The doctors cannot do anything about the state of the hospital as no one seems to listen or do something about it, is this what people want in the new South Africa?
