He left the office early. He was supposed to board the night train - TopicsExpress

He left the office early. He was supposed to board the night train bound to shivgarh. It was almost after 4 years that he was going to see his sister on rakhi. He lied down on his side lower berth reserved for him. He wanted to catch some sleep aftr a long day at office. He looked at his watch. 9:55pm. 8 more hours to go. He mumbled. He wanted to reach shivgarh as soon as possible. He felt something he had kept in his bag for the zillionth time. He looked excited. And why not. 4 years is a long time. He was looking outside the window when a small girl of age about 13 years asked him if she could sit near his feet. Probably her ticket was not confirmed. He smiled and got up offering her the half of his seat. He was reminded of his childhood when he and shaina fought for the side lower seat. Shaina was very fond of this seat since it had two windows offering her a better view of the world. Nevertheless they always used to share the side lower seat whenever they travelled with their parents to their grannys place. But now here he was, separated from his parents and his shaina. His work kept him away from his family. He was pretty much lost in his own thoughts and did not realize when he fell asleep. When he got up it was almost 6am and the train was entering shivgarh platform. He looked at the 13 year old girl with whom he had shared his seat. She was still asleep. She had cooconed herself in a bedsheet. He smiled and then hurried down the train with his suitcase. He opened the gate of the compound when the old watchman looked up from his old pair of glasses and said Aj bahut dino baad aaye babuji? He nodded and then walked towards the grave of his 13 year old sister with a rakhi and box of chocolates in his hands
