He was also quick to point out Australias acceptance of having a female prime minister as proof of how gender inequality isnt a thing, which is odd since he wasnt above making seemingly gender-based criticisms of her barren, unmarried state at the time. And of course all this talk of leadership by chicks doesnt excuse the fact that it was only a couple of months ago that he figured that dames in his own party werent up to the challenge of serving in the ministry, appointing precisely one of them - foreign minister Julie Bishop - to the front bench. But thats not a gender thing, obviously: its just a matter of finding ministers whove got the balls to do the job.
