“He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; - TopicsExpress

“He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it. Matthew 10:37-39 (NASB) Jesus is calling for loyalty to Him over our family. How much love do we have for Jesus in comparison to our family and those around us? How far are you willing to go in your commitment for Christ? Times are coming where this will be tested as this nation becomes less and less Christian. Our President has publicly stated we are no longer a Christian nation. He had the cross covered before He spoke at a Catholic university. Political correctness has cut into freedom of speech for the Christian believer and expanded it for other religions. Why? We are to take our cross and follow Jesus. We are to be willing to publicly identify with Him. We most certainly have become vulnerable to opposition and subtle type of persecutions. This will be increasing in the future as political correctness continues to attack Christians. As believers our freedoms have been stymied if we are in the military, veteran hospitals, and veteran cemeteries. We may face criminal charges in the future for expressing our views as Christians. We may be to make a decision whether we cling to this life or our Christian views. If we chose to cling to this life we may lose the best from Christ in this world and in the next. The more we love the rewards of this life, such as leisure, power, financial security and popularity, the more we will discover how empty they really are. To choose Christ is the best way to enjoy this life. We must loosen our greedy grasp on earthly treasures in order that we can be free to follow Christ. By doing this we will inherit eternal life and begin at once to experience the benefits of following Christ.
