He will cover you with His feathers; you will take refuge under His wings. His faithfulness will be a protective shield. (Psalm 91:4) I want to give you a picture of what this psalm is portraying. a picture of How the Lord protects us by all means necessary. Jesus died so that we may live. A Picture of Gods Wings After a forest fire in Yellowstone National Park in 1989, forest rangers went to assess the damage. One ranger found a bird literally petrified in ashes, perched on the ground at the base of the tree. The ranger was somewhat sickened by what He saw. He knocked over the bird with a stick, when He struck it, three tiny chicks scurried from under the dead mothers wings. The loving mother, was aware of the disaster that was coming to her babies, so she carried her offspring to the base of the tree, had gathered them under her wings, instinctively knowing that the toxic smoke will rise. She could have flown to safety, but refused to abandon her babies. When the blaze had arrived the heat scorched her small body, the mother remained steadfast. Because she had been willing to die, so those under the cover of her wings could live. He died so that we can be protected. He died so that we can be comforted, healed, and set free. He died so that we can be reconciled to the Father. He died so that we can have the freedom to worship Him. He died so that we can find our purpose in Life. He died that we may know Him, and make Him known. Last night, the Lord spared my life. I can picture Jesus covering me, and keeping me, and the car He miraculously gave me from harm.
