Head-canon for TFGMJ. I look at him. He looks in the distance, into the mountains of twelve. I could almost hear the turning of thoughts in his mind as we sit on a hill together. His head turns until his eyes finally connect with mine. Katniss is gone and I can sense it is ripping him apart. This is my first time in the forest, and even though I was fearful of going in at first, with Gale I feel safe. I always envied katniss because you can tell he loves her just by the way he looks at her. I wish that was me. He takes hold of my hand and almost as if he was reading my mind he says "it always was you, Madge." His lips embrace mine and all my thoughts become clear. It feels pure and right. We sit on that hill for hours until the sun sets. At that point, we run back to the village. Hand in hand. -TickTock
