Tomorrow, October 1, begins Disability Awareness Employment Month. As a person who faces stuttering and is learning more about Aspergers every day, this is very important to me to inform the world and everyone I come into contact with that having a disability should not stop someone from trying to find sustainable employment. Stigmas hurt people and many times companies are hesitant to want to hire a person with a disability-when in fact, it is those same people who continually demonstrate a great compassion and superior work ethic to showcase to prospective employers that they are more than ready to step in and help the organizations goals be met. Every day this month I am going to share one example of the desire illustrated by famous people with disabilities, particularly with an emphasis on stuttering and Aspergers, but also other ones, and end it with the hashtag Disabilities Are with the descriptive word of the day. I DO have a voice. And I WILL use it to be a positive force for good. #WelcomeToDisabilityRockTober
