Heads up, Boring Status Update/Question if you are not Unitarian/Universalist: So, I am reading about the fellowship movement, and I am not getting it. They are all yay, we found this new way of making congregations that drastically increases our ability to grow and the numbers shoot up, and then the program gets shut down. The book refers to the problems being that the worship style was too bland, the fellowships were too humanist and not good with authority, and they tended not to grow. Im not sure I am understanding this. As for the worship style and humanism... this seems like not a huge problem (especially not in modern times, with all the atheism running around in the general society)... the not good with authority seems, frankly, to be a proud tradition in virtually all parts of our history... as for the not growing... I get that... a Minister led congregation has a different feel from a lay led fellowship... couldnt the growth strategy be to create more and more of them? It seemed to be leaning towards working that way. There is something I am not getting here. Unitarians? Universalists? Help?
