Heads up everyone The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has filed lawsuits against Dollar General stores and a BMW facility in South Carolina for alleged hiring discrimination. Their sin: they reportedly run criminal background checks on job applicants. The government claims that since minorities have a higher rate of arrests, excluding people with a criminal record from employment might be discrimination and should be eliminated. I assume if that’s the government’s attitude toward private businesses, they must feel the same way about themselves. So good news: not only is the government collecting vast amounts of private information on us, and allowing it to be accessed by contract workers, but those contract workers probably won’t even be asked to pass a criminal background check. If you’re not nervous about the IRS having access to all your health records yet, why not?
