On 15 Oct, a Toyota Fortuner WRM2015 driven by a lady named Hairin pictured here with her daughter backed into my car at a traffic light on 15 Oct. She asked if i was going to make a police report. Since the damage looked minor, I requested her to settle my damages and she agreed. She called again later the same day to ensure she would pay and i should not make a police report. I agreed to it. I was surprised that the quotations came back for RM500+. Though the damage is not huge, it was the bumper piece. And it came in one piece hence the price. Now I have been pretty chill about the whole incident. I had half the mind to just paint it over and be done. Cost RM160. Not perfect not perfect lah! I just worried about a lower 2nd hand value when I sell my car in the near future. But her husband called me on 31 Oct. He was brusque and rude from the onset. 2 sentences in, he says he is a lawyer (how is that relevant info?). Arrogantly, he offered RM250 take it or leave it. If you agree we will transfer to you tomorrow. If not, you just go and make police report lah. He did not know I would have settled for less had they asked nicely. But for the haughty delivery which angered me, I demurred. More so when these chaps obviously are of means. Still we agreed to a RM250 settlement the very next day. Fast forward till today, no money has been banked in. Texts have also gone unanswered. What would you do in my position?
