Health Tip Wednesday: Did you know posture is more important than ever because in most instances we are sitting longer than ever. Research has shown that prolonged sitting in a slouched or awkward posture can contribute to low-back pain. Proper seated posture should include maintaining a neutral lumbar lordosis. In other words, maintain the natural curve of your low-back while seated for long periods. This goes for the neck also, as the farther your neck hangs forward, more stress is produced on the muscle at the back of your neck, head and upper shoulders. More on this next time.
