Health insurance may become unaffordable in the poorest - TopicsExpress

Health insurance may become unaffordable in the poorest states. Federal Court ruled on July 22nd, 2014 the government cannot give ObamaCare subsidies to the people who live in states that did not set up their own state insurance exchange. This ruling was a big kick in the pants to the Affordable care act and what it is supposed to be about (providing affordable insurance to low and middle income families). If the ruling of the anti-subsidy is upheld some of the states (below) impacted will see a noticeable increase of their insurance premiums. Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and Missouri will have an 80-95% increase; Maryland, West Virginia, North and South Carolina, Texas, Wyoming, Idaho, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Alaska, and Indiana will have a 75-79% increase. Most people do not have health insurance because of the cost of being insured and many were counting on ObamaCare to help with reducing the cost, since these states did not set up their own state exchange. The states that are included in this are mostly republican ran states and unfortunately make up the poorest states in the south. The individual impact is going to be devastating. The reason people didn’t get insurance was because of the cost and now with this ruling the main complaint will continue and people will not be insured. Let’s hope they fix this error and allow the low income families to receive the subsidies so they can purchase insurance at a low cost. #affordablecareact
