Heard about this great idea a while back to help homeowners in case of a break-in or when you have friends or family babysitting, housesitting or pet-sitting while you are gone. Create a digital inventory list. Walk around with a camera or video camera and shoot the outside, inside and important or valuble contents of your home and their location. This will assist the police if there is a break-in about what was taken and ease your mind about where things are in your home. I would suggest doing this before a long trip, or at least yearly after the holidays since thats the time when most things are purchased.
