Hearing Noam Chomsky or Howard Zinn discussing history it really - TopicsExpress

Hearing Noam Chomsky or Howard Zinn discussing history it really gives you quite a different view than the accepted positions and what you are taught in school, church, etc. Governments using religion as a mechanism of control is really no big surprise, but I think this puts into perspective just how exactly Christianity morphed into what it is today which doesnt happen to represent what the early church seemed to be whatsoever. Theres a history of Christianity. The first three centuries of Christianity it was a radical passivist religion... which is why it was persecuted. It was the religion of the poor and the suffering. Jesus was a symbol of the poor and the suffering… thats what the cross was and in the fourth century it was taken over by the Roman Empire. Emperor Constantine… he turned the church into the church of the persecutors. The persecutors… the rich, the powerful. The cross went from being a symbol of the suffering of the poor to the shield of the forces of the Roman Empire... and for the rest of its history thats what the church has pretty much been. Its been the church of the rich, the persecutors, the privileged, the powerful. https://youtube/watch?v=SNDG7ErY-k4
