Heart attack update: If you havent heard, I had a couple of heart attacks in April. The last was while running tech for a show, and I stupidly finished the last 30 minutes of the performance before going to the hospital. A couple of arterial stints and a weeks bed rest later, life goes on. Im doing really great, heart-wise. Rehab 3x/week shows that the ticker is really strong, its just the arteries that get clogged. After six more sessions, the rehab insurance runs out, but the only concern there is making myself schedule time for exercise on my own now. Filling a vacant role a few weeks into rehearsals, I got to play Mendel in Falsettos. I had a blast and got to play the role with a ton of energy. When people express concern about how much I put into this, I let them know that some of my rehab nurses were in attendance at a show, and they approved of it as a cardiovascular workout. But Im still taking care to remove more some stressors that are due to running the theatre. I found a Top Notch production team for The Phantom of the Opryhouse, so all Im doing is a little choreography and then sitting back and letting others take on the joys of production. Its a new world for me, but Im kind of loving what Im seeing. (We could use some help with set building and running lights/sound, by the way. Hint hint. Message me if you can help. I just re-read everyones comments and am overwhelmed at the love and humor of which my friends are capable.
