Heartbleed: A Long-term Issue Many sources are encouraging consumers to change their passwords in the wake of Heartbleed—but “If you change your password now, know that you are still exposed and at risk, unless the enterprise with which you have the account is fully updated,” says ISACA’s director of security initiatives, Shannon Donahue. In the meantime, ISACA International Vice President Jeff Spivey cautions, “Be watchful of your accounts and immediately notify any organization you are connected to regarding any unusual activity.” In addition to your accounts, watch lists like this one (bit.ly/1iubzFU), which show many companies that have been affected and which sites have been updated. A vulnerability like Heartbleed is a long-term issue affecting not just webservers, but infrastructure such as routers and switches. It won’t be a quick fix.
