Tomorrow is Santa Maria Della Salute, a celebration dating back to the 17th century, when Venice was devastated by the plague. The Republic of Venice pledged to build and dedicate a church to Our Lady of Health salute, the same church that stands at the top of the Canal Grande and that you can admire from our windows. Every year on November 21 Venetians go there to pay respect. The local tradition calls for everyone to buy and lit a candle at the church and then eat castradina for lunch, a dish made with mutton and cabbage!! We have picked the best muttons for this special day and we are getting ready for tomorrow... Cant wait to serve castradina and celebrate with you!
