Heartwarming .It will be specially appreciated by my family members living in Australia. A lunatic fringe exists everywhere, including India, from where I come, and in Middle East countries. By and large, people are reasonable Unfortunately, not all are accepting. When I was in Australia, I found the Australians I came in contact with to be friendly and warm and courteous. However, I did get a taste of the lunatic fringe also. While I was there, a store chain selling sandwiches or chicken wings or something announced that they would be using Halal meat in their stores. And there was a big uproar with some shouting : “Why should we eat meat slaughtered in the name of Allah?”!! And the newspapers were reporting assaults on Asians and, for a short time it became a problem. But, as I said, by and large the Australians were friendly and welcoming. And I really admire the way Australians in the video took up for the “victims” and stood up to the “racist” threatening them. Perhaps the “victims” and/or the “racist” were actors for the experiment. But those who intervened were genuine, common folks. It is very rare to stand up against abuse in public. That so many did so, and did it so vigorously, is a tribute to the Australians. I wish the Australians were equally understanding about the plight of the Palestinians at the hand of Israel.
