Heb 11:1-3 11 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good report. 3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.(KJV) There is no other book in the bible or any other religious book talk about FAITH more other than the book of HEBREW. It challenge us to think and look back in biblical history how the men/women of faith in their time preserver and believed on the promises of GOD. Abraham was credited as man of FAITH though he failed Measurably at some point in his life time. There are time when I personally think that the situation in my life or situation regarding our nation Maneuvering into a state of Talibanisation (new Malaysian English word :D) captured a vague and bleak future for our next generation. But when I read the book of HEBREW, it give me hope and a future; the light at the end of the tunnel is glimmering brighter and brighter each day despite hopeless statement we read daily through our electronic media. Thinking about the wall of JERICHO in the book of Joshua 6; to our human mind it is impossible and impenetrable physically with what ever weapon used during that time. Interestingly Joshua as new appointed leader of the Israelite put his FAITH on every command of his Commander in chief the LORD of host; put into action and doing the most stupid thing by human standard marching around the wall in silent for six days in a row and on the seventh days blow the trumpet with a shout with mere human voices. The result was stunning and beyond our human understanding. What is impossible for men, it is possible with GOD. There are many lesson we can learned from the story of the wall of Jericho. I can pickup a few just to encourage us so that we will not fall into the traps and a stings of our enemies (the devils) so that our FAITH will grow each day because of the hope we put in the word of HIS promises for our life and Nation. 1) GOD will intervene in our hopelessness - The Israelite at this point of time was in a state of hopelessness; their great leader Moses in whom they put their hope and trust to bring them to enter the promised land that was flowing with milk and honey is gone. Wandering for forty years in the wilderness is not the thing that we want to endure venturing but it is a situation that will drained our energy and patience. The Moses generation saw one of the greatest miracle performed by GOD HIMSELF but yet lost their patience on the way to the promised land. Failure identify among this generation... a) They grumble instead of thanking GOD for HIS deliverance. Exodus 16:8 8 And Moses said, This shall be, when the Lord shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that the Lord heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against him: and what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against the Lord. b) Moses got angry and did not act politely and did not honour GOD- the ROCK that gave them water to drink and thus forfeited his entry into the promised land. Number 20:11-12 11 And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also. 12 And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.(KJV) c) Thinking the god that is SEEN that cant performed miracles is BETTER than the unseen GOD that split the red sea. (set up an idol made of gold) Exodus 32:1 32 And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.(KJV) 2) Obey HIS command (even though it seem awkward to our human intelligent). -The first and the greatest hurdle for the Israelite to conquer to make their way to the promised land; but with a laughable strategy. Any great general during war time will definitely reject this option. How to defeat a city of Jericho that was greatly fortified. But the result of their obedient is absolutely stunning; No mind can conceived what GOD can do when we obey his WORD. A situation in our life or in our nation where we face a fortify wall that is so thick and no possibility of breaking through. Take courage and learned from Jericho strategy. LET GOD BE GOD. Amen
