(Heb 12:29 KJV) "for our God is a consuming fire." (Deu 4:24 KJV) "For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God." In Deuteronomy 4:24, the word “consuming” carries with it the meaning of “devour, eat or burn up.” Basically, it carries the same idea as in Hebrews 12:29. Those who are not found in Christ on the day of the Lord’s second coming, will be judged and consumed by the fires of Hell for all eternity. This means that every sin they have committed will be paid for by them and nothing will go unnoticed or non-judged by God since it will be a thorough consummation. This verse is not teaching annihilation of the unbelievers but it is teaching the thoroughness of the judgment of God on unbelievers.
