Hehe my good buddy & mentor Julian Smith has just opened a huge can of worms. Its always very interesting when someone who knows the difference between a good dj & a crap dj makes it known that they are not impressed. Ive come across a LOT during my time in Cape Town, & my conclusion is that a lot of crap djs seem to be getting all the BIG gigs while a lot of good djs have no bookings. My big bro Kurt Busch will agree, I spoke about the same thing with him & another close dj buddy of mine, Deejay Domz not too long ago. DeejayMarco Jacobs popped by Cubana Blouberg on Monday & dropped a killer set, yet he doesnt get bookings like a lot of these small boys do. #FACT clubs in CT seem to have a general trend of not wanting to pay djs what they are worth & djs have to double up as promoters & event organisers, which is sad because I STRONGLY believe that a djs core responsibility lies in putting a proper set together, we all know that practice makes perfect, Vj Vybez will tell you that. Dj Sean Blair-Brown will also confirm hat a 7 hour set is a mission, especially when you have to do something fresh on a weekly basis. Now I know why a lot of good djs have quit or would rather do private jam sessions in their bedrooms. No offense intended, I know a lot of so-called djs will be offended but hey, the truth is what it s, very stubborn too, it always comes out!!! How is a good or bad dj defined any way?
