And Im pretty sure that this new holiday Im enjoying called Boxing Day is for them. It brings to mind my dresser, Nicole Ashwood, whose cheerful choreographed support is Stroman at its finest. Right before New Yawk, my big number, she hits it by the numbers, reading my mind while the clothes are being changed: 1. Gargle? Yes. Sanders Throat Specific Mixture. (The tube player got it for me early on because the singers at Covent Garden swear by it.) 2. Honey. 3. Water. 4. Elderflower Ricola for the crossover. 5. Most critical: Burts Bees for my lips. She serves above and beyond the call of duty with a team of folks in the wings. Hannah who sews a button on in between numbers. Lauren with water, a towel, a quick change and that smile. Anastasia with a fruit pastille or Tabbys naughty and nice treats when I finally get to venture to stage right. With Colman Domingo, I am blessed to play the journey―we sing over it or under it or around it but always through it―with these dear comrades to help us navigate it.
