Hello -- HOPING THE SAN ANTONIO SPURS STEP UP!!!!!!!!! WE ARE ASKING FOR YOUR HELP! I am writing on behalf of a large group of dedicated volunteers from across the nation that are working tirelessly to promote the message of FOSTERING and saving the lives of The Dogs of San Antonio. We have been trying to spread the message that FOSTERING SAVES LIVES -- and SPAY and NEUTER YOUR PETS but it seems to be falling on deaf ears. The city of San Antonio has approximately 150,000 homeless pets and animals running the streets on any given day. The bulk of the problem is irresponsible pet ownership from failing spay and/or neuter, to the totally self-absorbed backyard breeders that produce unwanted and abandoned puppies. If these puppies and dogs dont die in the streets, their captured and used for many things, the least of which is bait for dog fighting. It is sad and it is depressing - and it can be very discouraging -- what we are asking for is YOUR HELP. As sad as it is, the reality does not seem to be changing the hearts and minds of most of the population. Please dont presume that this is spam or some kind of joke. The seriousness of the problem is REAL. Every year, over 7,000 animals are destroyed at ACS (Animal Care Services) in San Antonio. This number represents cats and dogs. **Just yesterday **over 24 dogs were killed simply because they had no home. ;-( Our group, SSAD - and SAPA (San Antonio Pets Alive) work tirelessly too to find homes for these animals by networking, etc. but there are only so many Fosters available and theyre over flowing with dogs AND cats. The result of this over crowding of animals in foster care is where the change is needed and where YOU CAN HELP! Please -- people LOOK UP TO YOU!! If the message came from YOU -- people would LISTEN!! If someone from the SPURS would step up and speak on behalf of FOSTERING and RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP it would REALLY WORK!! You have LOTS of fans both young and old. These same people are the ones who have the ability to help the ANIMALS! If the people hear it from YOU; that RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP and FOSTERING are GREAT THINGS!!! THEY WOULD DO IT!! If people could hear it FROM YOU - then they would want to do it FOR YOU!!! The animals would benefit greatly and pet ownership is a wonderful opportunity for the young and old alike! Its companionship and it teaches responsibility! its good therapy for lonely people and lets face it. DOGS are COOL! Your kind consideration is most greatly appreciated.
