We need to appoint TWO specific RSLIs into our staff team here. The clients and contracts that we now have are those that need experienced, skilled and confident RSLIs - that enjoy a challenge working with a variety of professionals that are functioning at high levels or in specialist domains. The salaries that we offer have been reviewed to reflect our criteria and service needs. We are specifically looking for RSLIs that are either experienced or have the ability to acquire the relevant skills and expertise to work in the following domains: · Education - from general meetings through to senior management levels · Social Work - those with experience of functionality and child protection especially · Finance - complex jargon and acronyms · Senior Management - in a variety of contexts and at high profile levels · Community - from campaigns to fundraising · Legal domain - from solicitors to court work · Conferences - national and international · Deafblind skills and experience As you can see, our requirements are specific and those that require us to expand our team to meet the needs and demands that we now have. The salaries for these posts (dependant upon skills and experience) are: 1 post at £40,000 per annum 1 post at £37,000 per annum We are looking for Full Time people - but are open to job shares that could meet our needs too. CommunicationID (in partnership with CommunityID) have been providing our in-house BSL/English Interpreting Services very successfully in the London area for the last few years. We are lucky enough to have a great cohort of Interpreters on the team and, in line with our company ethos, this service is delivered in partnership with Deaf professionals supporting the management and administration of the service. Due to increasing demand and ever increasing, we are now looking to recruit another in-house person to our salaried team. Word is spreading about an ethical service that strives to deliver services without charging additional admin/bookers fees for our own salaried team. Our client base is extremely varied and there will be a guaranteed interesting variety of domains and assignments, as well as clients that are a pleasure to work with (thank you to them). We have regular work and also there is lots of last minute requests that come in too, so no two weeks are the same. The role is responsible for the provision of both simultaneous and consecutive interpreting (in both BSL English) for our client based assignments across a range of domains and environments. The post holder is expected to be able to professionally and smoothly culturally mediate, as each assignment demands, whilst being able to ensure that they meet the varying demands of our clients linguistic needs effectively whilst upholding the ethics and ethos of the profession at all times. Reporting directly to the Interpreting Services Coordinator for daily functions and assignments, along with regular Directorship liaison, to ensure effective BSL/English for all clients of the company and allocated assignments, in line with service and profession standards and company expectations. This role will operate mainly on core office hours (9am – 5pm) however flexibility is required to ensure that assignments outside of these hours, and at weekends as required and agreed. Interpreting duties To ensure the day-to-day delivery of the BSL/English Interpreting services, involving: • Consistently follow the NRCPD Code of Conduct for BSL/English Interpreters. • To reflect the internal company standards, image and approach at all times. • Prepare for each assignment adequately, using initiative as required to ensure familiar with all content/terminology. Liaising with colleagues that co-ordinated the assignment as required. • When needed, to ensure all relevant parties involved in the interpreting process are aware of the interpreting processes, conduct and expectations. • Deal with all issues of cultural mediation, complaints and dilemmas in a professional and calm manner, reporting urgent and relevant matters promptly to Interpreting Coordinator and Line Manager. • Confidently deal with issues of misunderstanding, processing errors and professional limitations in a professional manner. • To interpret in a variety of domains (as per level of qualification and experience) confidently and efficiently, including sole, co-working and team situations. • Ensure that customer service and satisfaction is paramount, including modification of language production to meet Deaf clients needs. • Effective daily communication with the Interpreting Coordinator to ensure clarity and effective service delivery. • To support the daily processing of all invoices, payments, bookings and interpreter requests. Liaising with relevant staff member(s) as required • Ensure that all Administrative contact with external bodies is of a high professional standard and in agreed working formats • Effective communication of all LSP requests (both contract and ad-hoc) to ensure professional service delivery • Actively promote the service in a professional and ethical manner at all assignments, networking and company events. • Proactively ensure that your own CPD needs are identified (both self and peer) and that ongoing training and development opportunities are maximised to ensure self and professional progression. • To participate in Sight Translation of all internal company Policy and Procedures, at an agreed rate with the Interpreting Coordinator. • Participate in our unique and modern Deaf Interpreter Awareness package to a high professional standard, as agreed with Project Manager. • To work with us, as required, for the dubbing of our company related promotional materials and website Other duties To ensure that other company areas and duties are maintained in a professional and effective manner. • Ensure that all administrative documentation is completed in good time • Follow internal Quality Assurance standards and relevant documentation as required • Ensure Health Safety and a comfortable working environment within company offices and locations • Effective communication with all team members at all times • As required, participate in daily `team briefings to report on BSL interpreting activities and service updates (in a confidential manner) • To uphold all internal information in a confidential manner – in line with company Policies Procedures. • Actively promote all issues relevant to the interpreting profession to the Interpreting Coordinator, including events and relevant campaigns that we should be aware of/support. • To support and promote the ethos, aims and activities of the company • Function well within a team environment and be a strong team member – ensuring that all agreed team targets are met Professional Specification: Qualifications: RSLI (TSLI English: excellent command of English, preferable to minimum of A-level, with aptitude and willingness to enhance the qualification status. Experience: Ideally 2 years interpreting experiences in a variety of domains.
