Hello All, To start, our forecasted conditions for the rest of - TopicsExpress

Hello All, To start, our forecasted conditions for the rest of tonight through tomorrow. The temperatures will continue to fall from the current MID SINGLE-DIGITS to a night low of ZERO DEGREES until 8 a.m. Additionally, currently there is a fresh breeze from the northwest that will taper off to a gentle breeze throughout Thursday afternoon. What will be the real threat is the WIND CHILL that the aforedescribed wind will cause. Because of the wind, it will feel like NEGATIVE 17 degrees starting just after midnight until 8 a.m. when the sun will temporarily come out rising the wind chill to a toasty 5 degrees by mid-afternoon. At the time that I’m writing this, there is a WIND CHILL ADVISORY effect from 7 p.m. until 8 a.m. in the interior southern Connecticut region. Tomorrow’s FRIGID conditions threaten frostbite and HYPOTHERMIA to those who venture without adequate clothing. WEAR HATS, GLOVES, AND COATS! Many schools in Connecticut have already called either a 90 minute or 2 hour delay. These are mainly schools in northwestern Connecticut where, as seen in the included image, forecasted temperatures are slightly colder by a maximum of ten degrees. Currently, there is ONE school district in Fairfield County who has called a two-hour delay, that being Shelton Public Schools which is actually CLOSER to the coast than us- meaning slightly higher forecasted temperatures. Check here for the latest updates: nbcconnecticut/weather/school-closings/ I must accredit Avesh Krishna for providing me with this resource as well as other tidbits of information. For those who haven’t heard, the decision for the delay will be made BEFORE 5:30 a.m. tomorrow. PREDICTION: Based on tomorrow’s forecasted FRIGID wind chill temperatures in lieu with the growing number of school districts calling delays, we’ve allocated 40% of the graph to a two-hour delay, 35% to a 90 minute, and lastly 25% for a cancellation. Again, because there can only be ONE outcome, one cannot assume, “Well that means 75% of some sort of a delay,” as misleading and perhaps flawed as that is. Nevertheless, we DO forecast a two-hour delay, but do not be surprised to wake to a 90 minute delay or a full day…or God knows what else. - Owen
